Low Tide

Always early in the morning on Pacific Beach, I would lay on the couch in the condo and watch surfers gather just at dawn to discuss whatever it is surfers discuss. I always imagine that they are waiters, bankers, musician - any profession where they can focus that time between 5-7a.m. on their true passion.  Even when there are no waves, there are always a half dozen of these guys out in the water just sitting on their boards hoping for one good ride.
